Introducing the Motorola BACKFLIP

Last January 6, Motorola made a surprise announcement during the international Consumer Electronics Show (CES). It is the launching of their most unusual smart phone ever, the Motorola BACKFLIP. Powered by Google Android, this phone can actually flip backwards, so that both the screen and keyboard are facing out. It has to be the most unique phone in the market today, and will definitely appeal to people who like having one-of-a-kind gadgets.

Just Like a CLIQ

Upon closer inspection, it appears that this phone is pretty much the same as the popular Motorola CLIQ. It has very similar specifications, such as the Qualcomm 528 MHz MSM 7200A processor, the 5 megapixel camera, the 320 x 480 screen display, the Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, and even the Google Android 1.5 operating system that comes with the MotoBLUR, which is a social networking add-on. You should know though that Motorola promises to upgrade both phones to Android 2.1 eventually.

The keyboard is also very similar to what the CLIQ has, only bigger. It’s also a bit more domed compared to the unimpressive keyboard of the Motorola Droid. The three buttons that are found below the screen of the CLIQ has been replaced in this phone by touch buttons that light up when pressed lightly.

Not Like Any Other Phone

However, when you talk about the physical design, then this phone stands on a league of its own. When it is closed, both the screen and the keyboard face out. You can then flip it flat in a V-shape so that it can stand on a table and you can watch a video clip. When propped up this way, it can also work as an alarm clock or a digital photo frame. When it is fully open, you can actually use the trackpad at the back of the phone so that you can navigate without having to touch the screen at all. The good thing about this phone is that even with it’s one of a kind design, it doesn’t feel awkward at all, unless you try to flip the phone the wrong way (like you would a traditional clamshell).

Concerns about the Phone

One thing that bothers some people about the Motorola BACKFLIP is that it has the same problem as the CLIQ, in that the many windows of MotoBLUR look too crowded on a regular 320 x 480 screen. However, the screen resolution is pretty impressive though – everything looks bright and sharp, so that should be one less thing to worry about.

Another concern is that the 528 MHz processor may not be able to compete with the latest Android phones in the market today, such as the Motorola Droid, which has faster, more advanced processors.

This mobile phone supports HSPA 7.2 network and works on 3G band. It features 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.0. Its internal memory is expandable through the use of microSD cards.

According to Motorola, this phone will be available in the first quarter of 2010, but no price has been announced yet.

Droid Compared To Iphone – Who Wins?

With the recent release of the Motorola Droid this month, Apple’s iPhone has its best competition yet. The Droid competes highly with the iPhone and really shines overall.

Available on Verizon’s massive 3G wireless network’We got a map for that’, a slap in At&t’s face, when it comes to showing there coverage map, for there’We have an app for that’ campaigns. Also the first handset running Google’s 2.0 android software. I’ve been testing out that Droid, MSRP $199, and these are my first few bad and good impressions.

Droid’s Great Features:

Turn by turn GPS and street level maps in most places. This simply replaces your need of a Nuvi or cheap GPS solution, and to top it off has extraordinary maps that load up within.

Verizon’s high speed reliable network is amazing. I don’t believe I had 1 dropped call, Vs. My T-Mobile that dropped on a daily basis, especially at my home.

Web browsing, using the built in web browser in the Droid, it is the fastest pages have ever loaded off and on a wifi network. Pages load way faster than my 2G iPhone, and blow away each other phonephone like the blackberry and there built in browser on page load times.

Google’s integration to this telephone are extraordinary, on adding my pals name to my contact book it added his e-mail to the contact. Unless you have mates with the same names, then I am sure it will guess right a hundred percent of the time when it comes to auto-assigning folks to there names.

Droid’s Good features:

battery lifespan is better than some Smartphone’s I’ve seen, but isn’t the greatest. I run an application from the android market that closes applications that have not been used ; this saves on my battery life-span significantly, but becomes a little trouble closing apps after a certain time. Auto close should be built in for later use with this phonephone.

Android marketplace has a great assortment of free apps and paid apps. Most top apps were altered within days of Droid’s release and had 100% working droid updates for them. Slight modifications were needed running 2.0 vs. The other Android versions.

Choice of slide out physical keyboard, or touch-sensitive screen keyboard. I don’t see why two keyboards are needed, but there are just times that you do not want to type out every letter and you can just use the fast onscreen keyboard that recognizes words well.

Droid’s Bad features:

Music and video are a bit strange using the media player, especially with absence of a stop button and have to pause music to stop it, and the setup might be better.

visual voice mail is also a great feature but at an added value of $2.99 a month it simply isn’t worthwhile to me particularly on a phonephone that offers so many competing things that iPhone cannot deliver on.

Overall the Droid may not be the’iPhone Killer’ that some hype it up to be. It’s a certain competing entry in the dash for the best. With local Free GPS features and Verizon’s rock solid wireless network, you will be tough to compare iPhone to droid. Its comparing an apple to oranges, and now a days I assume I am swayed towards oranges, thanks to the strings it has cut away from how I use my cell phonephone, and how well it blows away the competition.

Overall Grade A- other than a few small issues this phonephone is my choice and will stay my choice for years to come. I’m sure I will have Droid 2-3, and whatever replaces it after.

At times, we finally got similar official news, this high hardware configuration Smartphone will officially released in November this year.
According to unconfirmed reports, this Smartphone will have a tablet shape dominated by a 4-inch, 800-by-400-pixel touch screen. It will reportedly run the Android OS on a 1 GHz processor Snapdragon processor. Rather than use Google’s standard user interface, Sony Ericsson has created a proprietary one for this device that emphasizes social networking (see here). One of the highlights of the X3 will apparently be its 8 megapixel camera with flash and support for VGA (640 x 480 pixels) video recording at 30 fps. This will offer face and smile detection, as well as image stabilization. It will allegedly be a quad-band (850/900/1800/1900) GSM phone with dual-band (900/2100) 3G: 10 Mbps HSDPA and 2 Mbps HSUPA. Bluetooth 2.1 and Wi-Fi g will also be included. In addition, it comes with built in music player. This music player is expected to be simple to use and manage. The music files can be traced according to the name of the song, album, artist or genre. As no proper information is available on the equalizer, we have to wait and watch what the sound control feature would be like. The music player is capable of playing music files based on MP3, AAC and e-AAC+ formats. Music can be enjoyed with wireless stereo Bluetooth also.

Samsung Galaxy I7500
Samsung’s new i7500 Galaxy makes it the first manufacturer after HTC to enter the Android game and it does so with a fairly feature-rich phone. The Samsung i7500 fuselage, using only 11.9 millimeters thickness of design, equipped with a straight HVGA 3.2-inch 480 x 320 level of resolution touchscreen, built-in 500 pixel camera support autofocus, equipped with LED flashlight and using the high MSM7200A CPU, 8G memory.
The Samsung i7500 interface is pretty much the standard Android 1.5 OS platform, with very little in the way of customization. It equipped with 350 mm stereo headphone jacks, battery capacity for 1500mAh, support the global positioning system (GPS), Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and all services, including Google search, Google maps, Gmail, Google calendar, YouTube and integrated GPS function of Google Talk. The video player on the Samsung i7500 Galaxy is of decent quality, while not bringing extra functionality (much like the music player). Videos are organized the same way as pictures in the gallery, and the default view makes it hard to search for the video you’re looking for. However, there’s also a dedicated video viewer as well, with the videos listed by name. It support with video format: MPEG4, h. 263, h.264 and audio formats: MP3, WMV, AAC, AAC +, e AAC +, WMA, RA.

Motorola DROID
As time approaches, the “Driod” on the operators of Verizon Wireless official web page will be officially released in the near future. But recently, it was announced that Motorola Sholes will launch with the newest Android2.0 system, for this machine attracting more attention.
The screen on the DROID is a 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen — a full glass display with a WVGA resolution clocking in at a handsome 480 x 854 full QWERTY keyboard. The DROID will be launched by the introduction of dedicated, support and 1XEV CDMA2000 1X CDMA network – A blinding Rev, this also makes this phone become the first CDMA mobile phone of carrying Android system. And it supports A-GPS navigation, Wi-Fi, USB2.0, E-mail, HTML web browsing and send out Google services, etc. Meanwhile This phone will be equipped with 3.5 millimeter earphone interface and stereo headset function, packing a 550MHz OMAP3 CPU, dedicated graphics processor, 512MB of ROM, 256 of RAM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, a digital compass, and accelerometer. Another, Motorola has smartly outfitted the DROID with a 5 megapixel camera coupled with an LED flash. Video, on the other hand, was somewhat of a pleasant surprise. The DROID is capable of shooting at a 720 x 480 resolution, will support AMR-NB/WB, MP3, PCM/WAV, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, WMA and mpeg-4, H263 H264, video files, WMV formats.

All of these three phones are excellent smartphone. Here I should explain my smartphone requirements. All of these were easy to use and very convenient to dial a number. But if it is possible to watch dvds in these phones? I search this question on Google. Motorola Backflip Android Phone

Android mobile phones are the future of mobile technology and every company is vying for attention in the market with the latest models of cell phones. Android phones are supposed to be smart, sleek and super-fast, allowing the user to multi-task.

The latest release from Motorola will enable you to stream the photos, tweets, status updates of you and your friends through the happenings widget available on its home screen. With the presence of Motoblur in this mobile, you will be able to synchronize your accounts in facebook, Twitter and MySpace.

Motorola Backflip is all packed with unconventional features. The 5 MP camera with auto focus, which automatically focus on the main portion. So, no need for manual focus. Moreover, it includes geo-tagging and picture editing software. Geo-tagging is applicable for GPS enabled handsets, as, it allows association of captured pictures with geographical location.

The Motorola Backflip is jam packed with features. The extras alone are worth drooling over. It has a five mega pixel camera with auto focus and image editing software plus geo tagging. Aside from that, multimedia playback on this mobile phone supports all sorts of file formats. For audio, this phone will play back AAC, AAC+, AAC+ Enhanced, AMR NB, MIDI, MP3 and WAV file formats.

Motorola places great trust in Android and has announced that it is going to release more Android-based products next year. Banking on Google’s fledgling yet very promising mobile phone OS could be in the right direction. The Android offers great customization features that appeal to the independent spirit of many smart phone users.

Apart from downloading useful applications from Android market, you will also be able to download a large number of latest applications from Google. This is possible because this mobile phone is using Android as its platform. It signifies that the users of this mobile will be able to enjoy the benefits of Google maps, Mail, talk, integrated GPS etc. The internal memory of the DEXT is 1GB. You can extend it up to 32 GB by using a microSD card.

Aside from the brand association, the Motorola Droid has some excellent features. Not only is it a touch screen, but it also has a physical qwerty keyboard, giving it the best of both worlds. The touch screen rivals the iPhone, and makes the first Blackberry Storm look silly. The Droid is just a tad thicker than the iPhone, though it is actually a bit narrower. The screen has a high resolution, which makes multimedia functionality quite impressive.

Users will find Verizon’s 3G service an added bonus, especially when using YouTube. But the reception is bothersome; the 3G reception is below par at times, and you might be forced to switch to Wi-fi. This is a big downside; that said, the positives of the Motorola Droid phone outweigh its negatives.

Even if doesn’t have iPhone’s smart and glossy look, and it can’t really be considered an iPhone slayer, the Droid is only the first device out of a future numerous family, and this can only mean a tougher competition on the smartphone market.
